The Patient Service Specialist will exemplify caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience. This role involves providing exemplary interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations. The specialist will demonstrate critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment, possessing the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, and arrival/departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines, ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience. The role also encourages patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process and involves entering and maintaining confidential and accurate patient information, including insurance, billing, and payment details. The specialist will assist with billing functions or direct to the appropriate billing office and demonstrate proficiency in emergency codes, appropriate responses, and applicable federal and state healthcare regulations. Additionally, the role requires monitoring inventory and stock of medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
