The Patient Service Representative (PSR) will be responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, which serves as the foundation for patient medical records used by the entire healthcare team. This role is crucial for preventing duplicate medical records, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining accurate billing. The PSR will register patients, verify demographic and insurance information, and collect co-pays and other patient responsibilities. The PSR must also be knowledgeable about government agency regulations and forms, such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and Medicare notices. Responsibilities may include scheduling appointments (including virtual and procedural), coordinating cancellations and reschedules, providing detailed information about test preparations and arrival times, performing visit closures, and educating patients on the patient portal/app. The PSR will create a welcoming environment, greet patients, answer telephones, and maintain positive public relations. Proactive communication with management regarding customer service and process improvement is expected. Additional duties may include assisting with transportation needs, interpreter services, e-scanning documents, managing in-basket messages, and assisting with orientation and training.
