This role involves complete and accurate patient registration, pre-certification, charge capture, and accurately coding diagnoses given by physicians. It requires excellent interpersonal skills for public contact, arranging patient pre-payments, and enforcing financial agreements. The position also involves gathering charge information, coding, entering data, completing the billing process, and distributing billing information. Filing insurance claims, assisting patients with insurance forms, and processing unpaid accounts are key duties. This role acts as a liaison between patients and medical support staff, greeting patients, verifying insurance information, obtaining necessary signatures, and assisting patients with ambulatory difficulties. Maintaining the appointment book, providing front office phone support, screening visitors, and gathering/coding outpatient charges are also essential. The role includes cashiering functions, preparing daily cash deposits, receiving payments, and processing benefit correspondence. It also involves scheduling surgeries, ancillary services, and follow-up appointments, as well as assembling patient charts and updating profiles. The Patient Service Representative oversees the waiting area, coordinates patient movement, and assists patients with various questions regarding insurance, benefits, and care. They follow up with insurance companies to ensure coverage approval and maintain records of patient accounts. This position also confirms workers’ compensation claims and prepares disability claims, following up with insurance companies for payment. Maintaining files, researching billing information, and processing/distributing billings are part of the daily tasks. The role also involves pulling and filing charts, delivering/transporting records, picking up medical reports, and ensuring the orderliness of files. Making new patient charts, repairing damaged charts, and assisting in locating/filing records are also included. The Patient Service Representative works with medical assistants and other staff to route charts correctly and follows medical records policies. They collect payments at the time of service, review accounts for timely payments, perform collection actions, and evaluate patient financial status to establish payment plans. They identify and resolve patient billing complaints and participate in educational activities. Gathering and verifying superbills, entering charge and payment information, and printing/verifying daily reports are crucial. Registering new patients, updating financial information, and maintaining strict confidentiality are also required. As a representative of Prisma Health Clinical Department, maintaining a neat and professional appearance, demonstrating commitment to service, and upholding office manual guidelines are expected.
