The Patient Service Representative is responsible for performing all job duties in a way that conforms to our customer service philosophy and consistent with our "AIDET" standards. This role involves greeting and acknowledging patients and family members, introducing them to services, providing information on expected wait times, and explaining the need for demographic, socio-economic, and financial information while ensuring data privacy. Key responsibilities include identifying insurance coverage, benefits, out-of-pocket expenses, and collecting co-insurance and co-payments. The representative will use electronic systems to confirm coverage, resolve eligibility issues, and screen uninsured patients for urgent status, referring them for financial counseling as needed. They will also screen orders for compliance, communicate with physicians and other departments to resolve issues, and manage security authorization and precertification for services. Additionally, the role involves identifying at-risk balances related to Medicare and Medicaid, communicating potential financial impacts to patients for unauthorized services, and collecting clinical data for prior authorization. Maintaining knowledge of insurance requirements, federal and state billing regulations, and primary care physician notification for HMO plans is crucial. The position also requires ensuring pre-registration and registration accuracy, maintaining knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Mental Health regulations, and accurately entering patient demographic and insurance information into the ADT system. This includes pre-registering and registering patients, educating them on required documents, managing calls for pre-registrations, and processing all necessary documents. The role also includes participating in departmental team building, in-services, and assisting leaders with special assignments.
