The Patient Service Representative's primary responsibilities include accurate and efficient patient registration, procedure scheduling, charge transmittals, collections, and procurement. Representatives are expected to utilize quality customer service techniques to meet patient needs and maintain professional interpersonal skills with patients, physicians, and co-workers. The role also involves supporting department operations as needed, performing other assigned duties, and complying with all policies and standards. A critical aspect of the position is adhering to all requirements for safely and securely maintaining Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, with annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures in place to ensure appropriate use of PHI.
