About The Position

The Patient Service Representative is responsible for registering or pre-registering all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services. This role involves verifying insurance coverage, obtaining necessary authorizations, and coordinating with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures if needed. The representative also requests upfront payment of deposits and continuously updates schedules for cancellations and changes. The position operates in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and requires the ability to respond quickly to medical STATS and emergencies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Accurate spelling and attention to detail required
• Must be able to key 40 wpm
• Excellent communication skills and customer services skills required

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred
• Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred

Responsibilities

• Registers or Pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that require authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
• Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged.
• Requests upfront payment of deposits from responsible party.
• Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
