About The Position
We are seeking a Patient Service Representative, internally referred to as Patient Access Representative or Patient Registration Clerk, at our PMG – Associates in Family Medicine Group. As a Patient Service Rep, you interview the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits. This is a Full Time position with 8-hour shifts, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, located at PMG – Associates in Family Medicine, Kansas City, KS.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology
Nice To Haves
- Previous medical setting/hospital experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Customer service experience
Responsibilities
- Interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and basic demographics to prep for upcoming visits
- Schedules patients in their clinic and assists with scheduling them in others
- Verifies insurance coverage, collects co-pays and prior balances from patients, reconciles and prepares deposits, and troubleshoots billing issues
- Greets and checks in patients
- Handles all incoming phone calls and routes to appropriate staff or initiates messages
- Coordinates clinic business processes such as supply ordering, sales calls, record release, fax and mail processing
- Operate a computer to accurately input and retrieve data
- Communicate with the population served, staff, and providers utilizing age specific techniques
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology
- Project a positive and helpful attitude
