About The Position

As a Patient Service Representative (PSR), you will support the Star Valley Health mission, vision, and values every day. Your primary responsibility is to provide a seamless entry for patients into our clinics and hospital, often being the first point of contact and creating a positive first impression. You will deliver timely, efficient, and customer-focused service to patients, visitors, and team members.

Requirements

  • Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state, and local regulations, and maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in patient, visitor, and team member matters.
  • Work varied shifts.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, push, bend, and reach throughout the day.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or clinic experience and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • BLS certification.
  • General filing, billing, and business office organization experience.

Responsibilities

  • Cordially greet and interact with external and internal customers in-person, on the phone, and via electronic forms of communication.
  • Maintain First Impressions standards and use AIDET in all interactions.
  • Schedule patient appointments to effectively utilize provider schedules and ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Coordinate efforts to fill no-show and cancellation slots to increase office productivity.
  • Check patients out and schedule any needed follow-up visits.
  • Verify and collect patient insurance and demographic information prior to their visit.
  • Obtain all necessary information for billing, follow-up, authorization, and medical records correctly.
  • Collect co-pays and balances, and refer patients to appropriate departments for financial arrangements.
  • Contribute to the sound financial operation of the department through appropriate use of time, supplies, and application of patient financial responsibility policies.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all records and compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Answer phone calls and ensure patient questions and concerns are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Route patient information to clinical providers in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Interact with providers, provider office staff, and ancillary departments courteously and respectfully to arrange follow-up for patients.
  • Complete filing, copying, and faxing duties daily.
  • Demonstrate efficiency and dependability with assigned job responsibilities and cross-train to assist other staff members.
  • Attend department meetings and other pertinent center-wide meetings as required.
  • Develop relationships with providers and medical staff to understand their patient interaction patterns.
  • Represent Star Valley Health in a positive manner.
  • Make decisions without continuous direction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or identified.
