About The Position

Responsible for checking in, checking out and appointment scheduling of patients, while providing excellent customer service to each patient. This role involves greeting patients, managing registration forms, collecting identification and insurance information, processing payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments. The position also includes verifying insurance eligibility and handling outgoing mail and faxes.

  • Minimum of one (1) year front desk experience at a hospital or Physician's office.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and check-in of new and established patients.
  • Appointment scheduling for new and established patients at various satellite locations.
  • Collecting patient forms for registration and ensuring they are completely filled out and signed.
  • Obtaining copies of driver's licenses and insurance cards, and scanning them into the electronic patient record.
  • Contacting the Business Office for changes in insurance coverage, payment agreements, or for self-pay patients.
  • Updating demographic information in the computer system, including Red Flag information.
  • Taking patient pictures for the electronic patient record.
  • Collecting patient co-pays, recording information, and providing receipts.
  • Checking out patients, ensuring encounter forms are signed.
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments, lab work, or placing patients in the recall system.
  • Referring patients to schedulers for ordered procedures.
  • Requesting payment on outstanding patient balances and contacting the billing office for payment agreements if necessary.
  • Comparing the final copy of the schedule with sign-in sheets and encounter forms.
  • Totaling payments on the payment breakdown form, stamping checks, completing deposit slips, and copying deposit slips and checks.
  • Processing credit card payments.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and coverage guidelines.
  • Processing benefit correspondence in the system.
  • Handling outgoing mail, ensuring it is metered and placed for pickup.
  • Posting guarantor on account money and moving money to appropriate charge lines.
  • Checking the fax machine for incoming faxes, sorting, and distributing them.
  • Attaching documents in a timely manner.
  • Assisting other front desk staff and medical records as needed.
  • Performing other related job duties or functions as requested or assigned.
