This full-time position is responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, preventing duplicate records, and ensuring patient safety by verifying identity. The role involves checking in and registering patients, collecting demographic and insurance information, and discussing/collecting co-pays. Maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA is crucial. The representative needs to understand insurance basics, Advocate Health contracts, and financial obligations, referring patients to Financial Advocates when necessary. They must also be knowledgeable about compliance regulations such as HIPAA, EMTALA, and others, obtaining required signatures. Appointment scheduling, cancellations, and reschedules may also be part of the duties. Providing accurate information about test preparations, arrival times, and directions, while creating a welcoming environment, is essential. The role includes answering telephones, screening calls, and offering assistance to patients with transportation, directions, wheelchairs, and interpreter services. Monitoring and working electronic health record work queues is also a key responsibility.
