About The Position

The Patient Service Representative is responsible for accurate and efficient patient registration, procedure scheduling, charge transmittals, collections, and procurement. Representatives must utilize quality customer service techniques to ensure patient needs are met. This role requires maintaining professional interpersonal skills with patients, physicians, and co-workers. The position supports department operations as needed and performs other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards. Specific duties will be detailed during orientation. A critical aspect of this role is abiding by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, with annual training provided on the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures addressing the appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Requirements

  • High School Equivalent / GED required
  • Customer service experience preferably in the medical field required
  • Typing skills – 30 wpm. (Required proficiency)
  • Excellent verbal/communication skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Detail oriented. (Required proficiency)
  • Basic computer knowledge. (Required proficiency)
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years related experience as a Secretary/Receptionist preferred
  • ICD9 coding and medical terminology. (Preferred proficiency)
