This is a full-time opening for a Patient Service Representative for our Gastroenterology Consultants office. The role involves performing patient check-in/out, scheduling appointments, collecting co-payments, verifying insurance, registering patients, answering the telephone, balancing monies at day end, and potentially entering physician-related charges or billing hospital/nursing home charges. The position offers a 4-day work week, Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., with no nights, weekends, or holidays, in an outpatient clinical practice setting. A sign-on bonus is eligible for this position.

Requirements

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
1 or more years of experience working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology,
Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO’s, PPO’s, etc.
PC/Windows proficiency.
Willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction.
Ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.

The Patient Service Representative is highly visible in their interactions with patients and must therefore project a positive office image at all times including smiling, greeting patients with enthusiasm, and maintaining an upbeat, positive attitude in all interactions with patients and coworkers.
