Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of continuous experience in a medical outpatient setting required
  • Prior experience in a front desk, medical receptionist, or patient access role required
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills required
  • Professional attitude and appearance

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Creativity and resourcefulness

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and scheduling systems preferred
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Welcome all patients to the health center
  • Performs billing and bookkeeping functions, including collection of co-payments, and providing receipts, posting, and balancing daily sheets and day end reconciliation to assure accuracy.
  • Updates insurance information when appropriate.
  • Verifies insurance enrollment, eligibility, benefits and out of pocket responsibility.
  • Upon patient check out, lab orders will be printed, and referrals will be given.
  • Schedules return appointments in compliance with current policy.
  • Obtains Consent for Medical Treatment and Release of Medical Records
  • Accurately completes computer data entry.
  • Works in an organized, efficient manner so as to keep a smooth and orderly flow of patients moving in and out of the medical office.
  • Maintains a file system necessary for proper organization of work.
  • Scans all documents.
  • Obtains necessary patient release forms in accordance with patient confidentiality and medical release policies.
  • Reports any patient complaints to the Patient Registration Manager.
  • Makes patient calls as directed by the physicians/providers and Nurse Manager.
  • Records and affixes all incoming correspondence, mail results, medical documents, etc. to appropriate department.
  • Daily cancellation and reschedule of patients, due to emergencies or staffing issues as directed by the Nurse Manager/Patient Registration Manager.
  • Confirms appointments as needed.
  • Responsible to answer in-coming telephone calls, take accurate messages and distribute to appropriate party.
