This role is responsible for creating the initial electronic health record, which is crucial for patient safety and billing accuracy. The Patient Service Representative will register patients, collect necessary demographic and insurance information, and discuss co-pays and other patient financial responsibilities. Maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA is paramount. The position requires knowledge of insurance basics, Advocate Health contracts, and the ability to discuss financial obligations with patients, referring them to Financial Advocates when necessary. This role also ensures compliance with various government regulations and healthcare acts, obtaining required signatures. Additionally, the representative may schedule appointments, coordinate cancellations and reschedules, and provide detailed information to patients regarding preparations and procedures. A key aspect of the role is creating a welcoming and professional environment through exceptional customer service, answering phones, and assisting patients with various needs such as transportation and interpreter services. The representative will also manage assigned electronic health record work queues.
