Patient Service Representative - Atrium Health Corporate PRN
About The Position
The Patient Service Representative will register or pre-register all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services. This role involves verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals. The representative will coordinate with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures when authorization or patient payment cannot be arranged immediately and will request upfront payment of deposits from the responsible party. Additionally, the role requires ongoing updates to the schedule for cancellations, reschedulings, and other changes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Accurate spelling and attention to detail required
- Must be able to key 40 wpm
- Excellent communication skills and customer services skills required
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred
- Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred
Responsibilities
