Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Accurate spelling and attention to detail required
  • Must be able to key 40 wpm
  • Excellent communication skills and customer services skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred
  • Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred

Responsibilities

  • Registers or Pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that requires authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
  • Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged.
  • Requests upfront payment of deposits from responsible party.
  • Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
