About The Position

This position fills critical short term vacancies in designated areas. The role involves registering and interviewing patients, completing pre-admissions, and ensuring information accuracy. The Patient Service Representative handles routine patient inquiries and issues, working closely with other departments and physician offices. They are responsible for greeting patients and processing them through to the appropriate area.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Accurate spelling and attention to detail required
Must be able to key 40 wpm
Excellent communication skills required
Customer services skills required

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree preferred
Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred
Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred

Responsibilities

Registers or Pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that requires authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged.
Requests upfront payment of deposits from responsible party.
Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
