About The Position

Esse Health is seeking a Patient Service Representative for their Gateway Asthma & Allergy office in O'Fallon, MO. This is a part-time position with specific hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and shared rotating coverage of a Saturday morning shift. The role involves performing patient check-in/check-out, scheduling appointments, collecting co-payments, verifying insurance, registering patients, updating demographics, answering the telephone, balancing monies at day end, and potentially entering physician-related charges. The ideal candidate will be highly visible, project a positive office image, and prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction.

Requirements

• Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 or more years of experience working in a healthcare setting.
• PC/Windows proficiency.
• Ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with physicians, coworkers, and employees in other departments.

Nice To Haves

• Previous medical billing experience.
• Medical coding familiarity.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of the different types of health insurance plans; i.e. HMO’s, PPO’s, etc.
• Willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction.
