About The Position

This position is located within the pediatric speech department. The primary responsibilities include accurate and efficient patient registration, procedure scheduling, charge transmittals, collections, and procurement. Representatives must utilize quality customer service techniques to ensure patient needs are met, and maintain professional interpersonal skills with patients, physicians, and co-workers. This role supports department operations and demonstrates leadership abilities by resolving issues, monitoring schedules, assisting staff/patients, and ensuring effective/efficient departmental workflow. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards, and abiding by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures address the appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Requirements

  • High School Equivalent / GED
  • 1+ years experience as PSR-1
  • Customer service experience, preferably in the medical field
  • Typing skills – 30 wpm
  • Excellent verbal/communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Demonstrates effective leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • ICD9 coding and medical terminology
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)
