Patient Service Representative (Float) (MP Endocrine)
About The Position
Pinehurst Medical Clinic (PMC) is a locally owned and managed healthcare provider serving Moore County, Lee County, Cumberland County, Chatham County, and surrounding areas. With a history dating back to 1952, PMC offers a wide range of primary and specialty care services, driven by a commitment to patient-centered, physician-led care and advanced medical technology. The clinic comprises over 130 providers, approximately 750 employees, and 16 locations. As a Patient Service Representative (PSR), you will be a crucial point of contact for patients, acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff. Your role will involve greeting, instructing, and directing patients and visitors, managing patient demographics and insurance information, collecting payments, and scheduling appointments. This specific role is a 'Float' position, meaning you may be expected to cover shifts at Endocrinology and Rheumatology clinics in Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Sanford as needed due to staffing requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of experience in a medical office setting.
Responsibilities
- Greeting patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and helpfully, and responding to requests for information.
- Checking in patients, verifying and updating necessary information, acknowledging patients, and checking patients out.
- Informing patients about physician wait times if they are expected to increase.
- Advising patients on financial obligations, including co-payments, deductibles, and insurance eligibility.
- Maintaining the lobby in a neat and orderly fashion, including ensuring magazines are current.
- Coordinating physician schedules, demonstrating a thorough understanding of physician specialties and medical practices.
- Answering telephones, returning calls promptly, taking messages, handling requests, and providing accurate information.
- Managing mail, paperwork via fax, and medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Providing the highest quality of care to patients and communities, aligning with the PMC mission.
- Covering locations between Endocrinology and Rheumatology clinics in Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Sanford as needed for staffing.
