About The Position

The Patient Service Representative Float is responsible for a variety of patient and customer service related activities in support of various physician practices. The individual in this role is assigned on a daily or extended basis to a particular practice requiring coverage for scheduled and non-scheduled absences, staff turnover, need for coverage during extended recruitment efforts and other similar situations. Position normally involves assignment to off-campus satellite sites and may vary day to day, normally with day-before notice of assignment. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year related experience in a hospital or physician practice setting, demonstrating effective oral/written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to adapt to change.
  • Current valid driver's license and reliable vehicle/transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with medical terminology associated with orthopedic related injuries.
  • College courses in business, English and general office management or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior IDX/Invision training desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide range of office functions including; computer data entry and word processing, filing, record keeping and reception duties.
  • Provides cross coverage for other similar positions within the practice as required.
  • Assumes medical records responsibilities including filing documents appropriately within records, general maintenance of the file room, chart copying, faxing and mailing out records as directed.
  • Answers department phone to take and relay messages, responding to questions within level of knowledge and authority.
  • Enters lab and/or radiology orders into computer during busy times.
  • Sorts and distributes mail and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for updating and managing electronic patient registration system to include obtaining referrals/pre-certs and records on new patients.
  • Coordinate care for patients.
  • Support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change.
  • Manage the practices' patient population.
  • Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
