About The Position

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator to join the team at Texas Oncology. This full-time position will support the Oncology Department at the 5206 Research Drive clinic in San Antonio, Texas. The clinic fosters a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a focus on mutual respect, accountability, and open communication. This role can be a Level 1, 2, or Sr based on relevant experience. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft (Outlook, Office Word, and Excel) required.
  • Must successfully complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of occupying position.
  • At least eighteen (18) months front medical office receptionist experience with insurance forms and scheduling software required (for Level 2).
  • At least 5 years front medical office receptionist experience with insurance forms and scheduling software required (for Level Sr).

Nice To Haves

  • Some receptionist or office experience preferred (for Level 1).
  • Knowledge of this practice’s personnel, daily routines, and scheduling a plus (for Level 2).

Responsibilities

  • Professionally greets and welcomes patients and their friends/family.
  • Registers and schedules appointments for patients efficiently.
  • Answers, screens, and directs all incoming calls to the appropriate personnel, relaying messages between patients and clinical staff.
  • Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards, and US Oncology’s Shared Values.
  • Greets patients and visitors to the clinic promptly, courteously, and professionally.
  • Checks in patients and informs clinical staff of patient arrival.
  • Provides and explains paperwork for patients to complete prior to examination.
  • Collects, proofs for completeness, and files patient forms.
  • Updates demographics and insurance information in the system.
  • Collects co-pays and balances, providing receipts.
  • Answers, screens, and responds to routine questions, routes to appropriate personnel, or takes thorough messages.
  • Pages clinic personnel as appropriate and communicates messages accurately and timely.
  • Checks patients out after examination and schedules returning appointments.
  • Provides patients with appointment details such as time, location, directions, and instruction sheets.
  • Records patient cancellations and missed appointments, and reschedules appointments.
  • Notifies appropriate staff of cancellations and makes notes in patient charts.
  • Provides general administrative support by filing charts and forms.
  • Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Maintains a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies.
  • Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPPA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.
  • Types memos and forms as needed.
