About The Position

The UHealth Cardiology Department at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Patient Scheduler 2 in Miami. This role involves delivering exceptional customer service by communicating with patients over the phone to provide necessary information and is responsible for coordinating and scheduling diagnostic therapy and other procedures/treatments for UHealth. The incumbent will interact directly with referring physicians, radiologists, technologists, and patients to ensure smooth coordination of procedures and exams. This position requires scheduling complex exams with attention to detail, obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information, and screening information for accuracy. The role involves managing high call volumes, educating patients on exam preparation, and answering questions. Proficiency in multiple computer applications and scheduling software is necessary to schedule exams across various modalities and entities within the UHealth system. The scheduler will use complex medical terminology and precise scheduling protocols, including reviewing previous imaging reports against current orders. They will coordinate processes and timing for special procedures as required by physicians and facilities, and notify appropriate parties regarding patient needs such as labs, allergy premedication, oral sedation, or implant information. Adherence to University and unit-level policies and procedures, and safeguarding University assets are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with patients over the phone to provide necessary information.
  • Coordinate and schedule diagnostic therapy and other procedures/treatments for UHealth.
  • Interact directly with referring physicians, radiologists, technologists, and patients to ensure smooth coordination of procedures and exams.
  • Schedule all types of complex exams with attention to detail.
  • Answer incoming phone calls or contact patients by phone to determine exam time.
  • Obtain and verify necessary demographic and insurance information.
  • Screen and verify information for accuracy when scheduling exams.
  • Manage high call volumes to ensure best possible customer service by properly educating the patient on exam preparation and answering questions.
  • Utilize multiple computer applications and scheduling software to schedule multiple exams within multiple modalities and entities across the UHealth system.
  • Use complex medical terminology and precise scheduling protocols to ensure compliance, such as reviewing and comparing patient’s previous imaging report to current order.
  • Coordinate processes and timing as required by the physician and facility for special procedures.
  • Notify appropriate parties if patient requires labs or premedication for allergies, oral sedation medication, or obtain necessary implant information.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
