The Patient Safety Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This role involves remaining at the bedside of an assigned patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member, providing calming and reorienting conversation in cases of agitation or confusion, and identifying and removing hazards from the patient and their environment. The technician may also assist patients with activities of daily living as delegated by the supervising RN. Additionally, the role includes providing continuous safety observation via continuous video monitoring for patients at risk of injury to themselves or others, offering basic comfort measures, addressing emotional needs, and using encouragement, distraction, coping strategies, cognitive stimulation, and de-escalation techniques. The technician will also remotely monitor multiple patients via continuous video monitoring, providing verbal redirection and summoning appropriate staff when necessary.
