About The Position

A Patient Safety Observer (Sitter) at Erlanger Health System is responsible for sitting with patients to provide basic care, continuous observation of patients, and documentation of behavior. The sitter works with clinical staff to provide a safe environment for the patient. The Patient Safety Observer (sitter) must remain with the patient until relieved by another Patient Safety Observer or a hospital staff member. All patient safety observers (sitters) are responsible for basic patient care that include but not limited to ambulating, assisting with basic hygiene needs, and feeding. The patient safety observer must be willing to travel to all Erlanger campuses as assigned. The Patient Safety Observer (sitter) must demonstrate exceptional people skills, the ability to handle complaints and resolve conflict when necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward

Nice To Haves

• Patient care or other healthcare experience
• Caretaker or prior Sitting experience
• Good reading, writing and communication skills
