About The Position

This is a dual role position combining Patient Safety Monitor and Patient Transporter duties. The Patient Safety Monitor provides constant observation for patients who may be at risk of harming themselves or acting unsafely, ensuring a safe environment. This role requires focus and alertness for extended periods, with no clinical skills involved. The Patient Transporter is responsible for moving patients to and from their beds and other areas within the hospital, as well as retrieving medical records, lab results, supplies, and medications. This role requires timely transport, prompt completion of requests, and adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations. It also involves assisting with patient handling and lifting using appropriate safety equipment and procedures, ensuring safe and efficient transport while following proper transfer techniques and infection control procedures. The role also includes validating patient identity, remaining alert to patient condition, communicating changes to clinical staff, and maintaining accurate daily logs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • CPI training required within 6-months of hire - or similar training.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • CNA Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide constant observation to patients who may be in danger of harming themselves or acting in an unsafe manner.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients requiring one-to-one observation.
  • Transport patients to and from their inpatient beds and other areas.
  • Retrieve medical records, lab results, supplies, and medications.
  • Timely transport of patients to various locations within the hospital.
  • Monitor transport requests and complete them promptly.
  • Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Assist with patient handling and lifting using appropriate patient safety equipment and appropriate safety procedures.
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently between various departments following appropriate transfer techniques and proper isolation/infection control procedures.
  • Validate patients’ identity based on established department protocol.
  • Remain alert to patient condition and promptly communicate changes to clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
