About The Position

The Patient Safety Coordinator serves as a patient safety expert who evaluates safety events, identifies trends, and drives process improvements to reduce patient harm. This role partners with multidisciplinary teams to investigate events, implement corrective actions, and support organizational learning. Through data analysis, education, and consultation, the coordinator helps foster a culture of safety and high reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a health care-related field
  • 5 years of related experience in a clinical role

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and follows up on Safety Events with a focus on system and process improvement.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence of adverse events.
  • Ensures accuracy of data within the Event Reporting system.
  • Monitors and analyzes Safety Event data for clusters and trends.
  • Educates staff and leaders about patient safety, including navigation of the Event Reporting system.
  • Serves as a patient safety consultant to all areas of influence.
  • Communicates effectively with external audiences, including presentation to leadership groups and committees.
  • Participates in and may lead improvement efforts, e.g., RCAs and Action Plans.
  • Develops self through self-study, training, and educational opportunities, seeking guidance from others when needed.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams or activities.
  • Assists with planning, management, and monitoring of assigned projects.
  • Actively participates in and assists in leading meetings and committees, as assigned.
  • Supports the achievement of department goals and objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
