About The Position
Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant (Sitter) to join their Float Pool. This role works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse to provide a safe environment for patients, serving as an alternative to restraints. The attendant is responsible for constant and alert observation of assigned patients to prevent harm to self, others, or from others, and to prevent elopement.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required within 1 week of start date.
- Flexibility (works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
- Verbal and written communication
- Promotes team building
- Self-directed
- Able to adapt to unpredictable situations.
Nice To Haves
- Patient care or healthcare related field experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Sitting with and observing an assigned patient.
- Providing constant and alert observation for each assigned patient.
- Protecting patient's safety and security by preventing patient harm to self, harm to others, harm from others and flight risk.
