About The Position
The Patient Safety Attendant position at Atrium Health University City is a part-time night role focused on ensuring patient safety. Responsibilities include continuous patient observation, accurate documentation of patient information, and effective communication with the Registered Nurse regarding patient status and needs. The attendant will also assist the nursing team in maintaining a safe, ligature-resistant environment and foster positive communication between patients and staff, all while adhering to established policies and procedures. This role is part of Advocate Health, a large nonprofit integrated health system committed to clinical innovation and providing comprehensive care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic Life Support Certification required.
- CPI certification required prior to conducting patient observation.

- Previous hospital experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe environment and remain with patient always to provide the appropriate level of observation to patient as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
- Appropriately document information that is required during the patient observation experience.
- Perform handoff communication with the Registered Nurse regarding pertinent patient information.
- Assist nursing team in maintaining a ligature-resistant or ligature free environment as appropriate to the clinical setting.
- Notify and update the licensed nurse of immediate patient safety, patient care, and staff needs.
- Fosters positive and professional communication between patients and staff.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures.
