Requirements

Ability to communicate with patients in a compassionate manner.
Ability to work well under the supervision of a health care professional.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving are required to be successful.
Organizational skills and confidentiality are a must.
Must be able to communicate with other departments and staff in an articulate manner.
Must be able to explain technical aspects of duties performed to supervisor and co-workers.

Responsibilities

Will communicate with the professional nursing staff about observations regarding patient safety.
Reads to patient to help in passing time comfortably.
Takes short walks with the patient along hospital hallways.
Responsible for immediately sounding the alarm during an emergency.
Observes patients who are at risk for falls or the potential for harming himself or others. Reports immediately to the nurse.
