Patient Safety Assistant
About The Position
This is a full-time position for a Patient Safety Assistant at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, specifically within the NCBH Nursing Float Pool. The role involves ensuring a secure and safe patient environment by remaining in the patient's room, monitoring patient activity, and responding to patient needs as directed by the care team. The position requires strong observational skills, the ability to communicate effectively with patients and care teams, and the capacity to react appropriately to safety situations and emergencies. The work environment may involve exposure to infection, contagious diseases, radiation hazards, and cleaning agents.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience with patient care preferred.
- HeartSaver CPR required.
- Ability to monitor patient safety and react appropriately to environmental safety factors.
- Proficient and appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to respond to emergency or urgent situations.
- Ability to maintain concentration when subject to frequent and varied interruptions and noise levels.
- Ability to interact with patients and care team staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensures a secure and safe patient environment by remaining in the patient room.
- Obtains any patient care instructions from patient care team.
- Remains observant of patient activity and behavior and notifies care team of any changes.
- Notifies care team of any patient requests.
- Responds as directed by care team to address patient basic care or safety needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
