About The Position

The Patient Safety Assistant - Float - Nights position is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, with three 12-hour shifts per week from 7 PM. This role is responsible for ensuring a secure and safe patient environment by remaining in the patient room, obtaining patient care instructions, observing patient activity and behavior, notifying the care team of any changes or patient requests, and responding to address basic care or safety needs as directed. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with previous patient care experience preferred. Certification in HeartSaver CPR is also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience with patient care preferred.
  • HeartSaver CPR required
  • Ability to monitor patient safety and react appropriately to environmental safety factors.
  • Proficient and appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to emergency or urgent situations.
  • Ability to maintain concentration when subject to frequent and varied interruptions and noise levels.
  • Ability to interact with patients and care team staff.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a secure and safe patient environment by remaining in the patient room.
  • Obtains any patient care instructions from patient care team.
  • Remains observant of patient activity and behavior and notifies care team of any changes.
  • Notifies care team of any patient requests.
  • Responds as directed by care team to address patient basic care or safety needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
