Job Description: Greets and schedules patients, registers patients into the computer system, and determines their insurance benefits. Serve as a liaison between patient and clinical support staff. Requirements

High school education or equivalent
2 years in a front office using EMR software
Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding

Responsibilities

Greets patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
Check in patient
Check out patients
Review insurance cards
Collect co-pays
Ensures a balanced cash drawer
Inputs any charges into patients accounts
Create estimate if one does not exist
Check for referrals attached to appointment (if applicable)
Schedules any follow up, post op, new problem, procedure and new patient appointments
Verifies and updates demographic information
Registers new patients into the system (if a chart does not already exist), and collects all demographic & insurance information
Answer telephone calls, takes messages and routes to the appropriate team member via telephone encounter
Maintains a clean and neat work area and reception area
Ability to cover at other locations within Methodist Orthopedic Specialists
