Job Description: Greets and schedules patients, registers patients into the computer system, and determines their insurance benefits. Serve as a liaison between patient and clinical support staff. Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 2 years in a front office using EMR software
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
  • Check in patient
  • Check out patients
  • Review insurance cards
  • Collect co-pays
  • Ensures a balanced cash drawer
  • Inputs any charges into patients accounts
  • Create estimate if one does not exist
  • Check for referrals attached to appointment (if applicable)
  • Schedules any follow up, post op, new problem, procedure and new patient appointments
  • Verifies and updates demographic information
  • Registers new patients into the system (if a chart does not already exist), and collects all demographic & insurance information
  • Answer telephone calls, takes messages and routes to the appropriate team member via telephone encounter
  • Maintains a clean and neat work area and reception area
  • Ability to cover at other locations within Methodist Orthopedic Specialists
