The Patient Representative in the Orthopedics Clinic is responsible for greeting, instructing, and scheduling patients. This role involves registering patients into the computer system, determining their insurance benefits, and serving as a liaison between patients and clinical support staff. The position requires maintaining strict confidentiality, ensuring a prompt and courteous patient experience, and managing patient check-ins, including verifying and updating demographic and insurance information. The Patient Representative will also assist patients with ambulatory difficulties, follow office scheduling policies, collect payments, and enter charges into the computer system. Additionally, they will register new patients, verify patient contact and insurance details, answer and screen telephone calls, take messages, and convey information. Maintaining a neat work and reception area, advising the Practice Manager of front office issues, and attending educational and staff meetings are also key responsibilities. The role involves determining and inputting daily balances of charges and receipts, adhering to established policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations, and fostering a team approach for high-quality patient care and clinic efficiency.
