The Patient Representative is responsible for greeting, instructing, and scheduling patients. This role involves registering patients into the computer system, determining their insurance benefits, and serving as a liaison between patients and clinical support staff. The position requires maintaining strict confidentiality, ensuring a prompt and courteous patient experience, and managing the check-in process by verifying and updating demographic and insurance information. The Patient Representative also assists patients with ambulatory difficulties, follows office scheduling policies, collects payments, and enters charges into the computer system. For new patients, this role involves registering them and verifying all contact and insurance details. Additionally, the Patient Representative answers and screens telephone calls, takes messages, and conveys information to the appropriate parties, demonstrating proficiency with medical office technology systems. Maintaining a neat and orderly work and reception area is also a key responsibility. The role involves advising the Practice Manager of front office issues and assisting in problem-solving, as well as attending scheduled educational and staff meetings. A daily balance of charges and receipts is to be determined and input as assigned by the Office Manager. The position requires adherence to established policies and procedures, OSHA Regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to foster a team approach, support clinic efficiency, and maintain cohesion.
