About The Position

This role provides assistance and services to patients, families, staff, and external agencies in the accurate completion of patient registration, admission, and scheduling across multiple divisions. The Patient Representative III will investigate and resolve customer requests, questions, or problems according to CCHMC policies and procedures, and contact outside representatives to request information or assistance in resolving problems. This position also supports the Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory by ensuring that necessary data, information, and forms are obtained and accurately entered into the appropriate system. The role involves identifying and resolving data and insurance coverage errors and trends, and talking to management to explain system errors or recommend changes. Additionally, the Patient Representative III ensures compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, CMS, ODH) by completing and authenticating all documents and questionnaires, and escalates compliance concerns with proposed resolutions to management. The role also requires maintaining confidentiality, protecting, and safeguarding patient/family personal medical and financial information at all times during collection, use, and storage, accessing only necessary information, and providing coaching on HIPAA/Confidentiality concerns while escalating issues to management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of work experience in a related job discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Previous administrative healthcare experience preferred
  • Previous experience using Epic is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures patient safety by identifying the correct patient, identifying special needs, and preparing isolation precautions for patients who have Infectious Disease indicators.
  • Escalates potential safety concerns regarding patient identity and other safety risks.
  • Supports the Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management, and Regulatory by ensuring that the necessary data, information, and forms are obtained and accurately entered into the appropriate system.
  • Talks to management to explain system errors or to recommend changes to the system.
  • Identifies and resolves data and insurance coverage errors and trends.
