The Patient Registrar is responsible for engaging in positive interactions, providing helpful assistance, and managing patient arrivals and registrations in various departments, including the ER and Urgent Care. This role involves identifying patients in need of immediate care, prioritizing registration by complaint severity, and ensuring accurate electronic medical record (EMR) entry to prevent errors. The registrar also handles patient identification, generates necessary documentation, collects demographic and billing information, verifies insurance, and assists patients without insurance in connecting with financial counselors. Additionally, the position involves performing pre-admission and pre-registration functions, securing patient valuables, assisting staff during system downtimes, managing cash drawers, resolving registration errors, and utilizing interpreter services when needed. The role also includes monitoring security systems, handling telephone inquiries, providing directions, and demonstrating teamwork and effective communication. The Patient Registrar must maintain a professional demeanor, complete travel screening questionnaires, track visitors, and adhere to all healthcare regulations. This position may require working alternate shifts, weekends, and overtime.
