About The Position

The Staffing & Bed Control Assistant is responsible for coordinating daily hospital staffing and patient placement, adapting to changes in patient acuity and census. The role maintains staffing information and schedule changes, records and communicates sick leave to department managers, and gathers and reports data on productive and nonproductive work hours. It also coordinates hospital patient placement by maintaining an up-to-date online database of patient locations and bed availability. The position works with clinical teams to support timely, appropriate bed assignments and provides accurate staffing and bed availability information to support operational decisions and patient care.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Working knowledge of insurance plans.
Working knowledge of computer applications.
Working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures related to the admission process and staffing needs.
Ability to prioritize workflow.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily staffing levels based on patient acuity and census.

Track bed availability throughout the hospital.
