About The Position
As a Patient Insurance Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting patients with enrolling in and maintaining active insurance coverage, responding to payer requests for information, and remaining current on all health insurance options for Indiana residents. This role is crucial for ensuring patients have the necessary support to navigate health insurance complexities.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years related experience.
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance is required.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, preferred.
- Indiana Insurance Navigator’s License preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Contact and interview patients and/or families to screen the appropriateness of filing applications(s) for medical coverage.
- Assist patients with obtaining the needed verifications and documentation (with patient’s authorizations) that is required to determine eligibility.
- Monitor and assist with the application process including attending interviews when necessary to maintain all processing deadlines.
- Collaborate interdepartmentally to gather/disperse information pertinent to patients’ insurance coverage.
- Document all insurance/financial clearance information in electronic medical records systems.
- Assist with updating demographic, insurance, funding and medical information in these information systems, as needed.
- Respond to payer requests for information.
