About The Position

The Patient Flow Coordinator Per Diem will identify and prioritize patient admissions through admission records and within the hospital via recovery room, emergency department, etc., records. They will assign patients to appropriate floor, bed type, and status based on criteria identified upon admission or physician orders. The role involves notifying receiving units of patient admission particulars and bed assignments, continually assessing patient flow situations, and notifying appropriate persons of flow issues and delays. The coordinator will also ensure that directors and nurse managers are kept aware of related clinical and operational issues (discharges, admissions) and collaborate with Care Coordination staff on scheduled ambulance transfers and discharges.

Requirements

Three (3) years successful prior experience in a position requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent Customer Service skills, including tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse setting with diverse contacts, both internally and externally.
Able to perform general system computer skills; familiarity with MS Office applications

Nice To Haves

Medical Terminology a plus but not required.
