About The Position

The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) is the first point of contact for patients and guarantors in a hospital, ambulatory, or medical office setting. The representative gathers and verifies demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility information; answers questions; and ensures required notices and consent forms are signed. The role requires excellent communication, critical thinking, sound judgment, collaboration, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment. Responsibilities may vary by setting. Physician practice roles may include specialty authorizations, appointment and procedure scheduling, referral confirmation, incoming calls, and authorization denials and peer-to-peer processes. Hospital roles may include placing patient identification bands after identity validation, obtaining hospital-specific regulatory signatures and walk-in authorizations, and identifying when financial assistance is needed. Memorial Primary Care roles may include referral and access requests, eligibility scheduling and payment collection, prescription refill and patient advice requests through MyChart, and provider scheduling templates. For Physician Practices (MPG, MPC, and UCC), travel to other locations may be required based on business needs; mileage reimbursement is provided. The posted shift is evenings.
