Patient Financial Services Reimbursement Specialist I - (FT, Days)
About The Position
Coordinates and monitors daily Patient Financial Services functions, including billing compliance and accounts receivable. The specialist handles assigned claims submission, payment application, denial management, and account follow-up to support optimal reimbursement. The role is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is hybrid-remote. The position is with Nuvance Health in the Patient Accounting department. It requires a high school diploma or equivalent, data-entry skills, customer-service experience, and at least six months of experience. Billing and collections or medical-office/healthcare experience is preferred. The role is non-exempt and pays $19.54–$29.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
- Process claims, payments, rejections, refunds, credit balances, and unapplied cash accurately and daily, with timely follow-up.
- Confirm electronic and hard-copy billing of delinquent claims; rebill and follow up on those claims.
- Respond to patient and payer inquiries, denials, correspondence, and telephone inquiries.
- Advise other areas, such as registration, of updated insurance information and claim denials.
- Educate others on managed-care rules and regulations, as well as state and federal guidelines.
- Adjust account balances to meet specific account needs.
- Maintain Contract Management reporting, including payment errors and carve-out billings, and update information as needed or requested by the supervisor.
- Review and resolve patient and insurance credit and debit balances and ensure proper communication with patients.
- Adhere to federal, state, and departmental compliance policies and procedures.
- Maintain and model the organization's values.
- Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as required.
