About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking a Patient Financial Associate to support the revenue cycle, compliance, and patient experience within the Emergency Department and BOS Digital Registration. This role involves accurate and efficient completion of tasks related to registration, financial screening, verification, and patient throughput. The associate will be responsible for meeting individual collection goals and collaborating closely with the clinical team to ensure a positive experience for patients and caregivers. This is an essential staff position requiring availability to work weekends, holidays, and during disaster events. The role may involve presenting and explaining legal, ethical, and compliance-related documents to patients during registration. Requirements

  • High School, Cert, GED, Trn, Exper.
  • Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced public health setting or Revenue Cycle setting with demonstrated experience in payment collection, such as billing, sales, and collection/Customer Service.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and have an agile mindset.
  • Less than 1 year of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • In lieu of degree and/or experience, a highly motivated individual that has the ability to satisfactorily demonstrate and/or role play required skills in a professional manner with a clear and convincing ability to excel in the role.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, etc.
  • Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations and pre-certifications, Microsoft Office products, and EMR applications, etc.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred.

  • Meeting individual collection goals.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with all members of the clinical team to ensure a seamless and positive experience for both patients and caregivers.
  • Working as needed on weekends, holidays, and during disastrous events.
  • Deploying legal, ethical and compliance related documents that must be presented and thoroughly explained to the patient at the time of registration.
