The Patient Financial Advocate is responsible for screening patients on-site at hospitals for eligibility assistance programs either bedside or in the ER. This includes providing information and reports to client contact(s), keeping them current on our progress. The role involves identifying self-pay patients, screening them for State, County, and Federal eligibility assistance programs, and initiating the application process. The advocate will introduce patients to Firstsource services, provide updates on their progress, and facilitate transitions to backend Patient Advocate Specialists. Responsibilities also include recording patient information, documenting screening results in tracking tools and hospital systems, and performing face-to-face screenings or telephone outreach. Outside field work, including patient home visits, may be required. Additionally, the role requires maintaining positive working relationships with hospital staff, reporting important occurrences to management, accessing patient information for other specialists, keeping accurate logs, meeting goals, maintaining confidentiality, and adhering to company policies and the Corporate Compliance Program.
