The Patient & Equipment Transporter is responsible for lifting and transporting patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, ensuring proper positioning and securing. They must be attentive to patient comfort, follow all precaution signs, and transport patients to their destinations. This role may also involve transporting patient belongings, specimens, carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment. The transporter will contact clinical staff immediately regarding changes in a patient's condition or equipment issues during transport. They are responsible for verifying patient identification, tracking assignments using electronic software, and collecting/returning equipment to proper holding areas. Equipment must be disinfected and inspected before and after use, and any equipment in need of repair must be reported. Maintaining patient confidentiality is crucial. Additionally, the transporter may be responsible for collecting patient equipment from soiled utility rooms and for the pick-up and delivery of patient medication (excluding controlled substances).
