The Patient & Equipment Transporter is responsible for lifting and transporting patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, ensuring proper positioning and securing of the patient using correct body mechanics. This role also focuses on patient comfort, following all posted precaution signs, and transporting patients to their destinations. Additionally, the transporter may be responsible for moving patient belongings, specimens, carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment. They must maintain constant communication with clinical staff regarding any changes in patient condition or issues with equipment during transport. Accurate patient identification is crucial, verified by comparing the ticket to ride with the patient's wristband. The transporter will use electronic software to track assignment status and is responsible for collecting and returning equipment to designated areas, as well as disinfecting and inspecting transport equipment before and after each use. Maintaining patient confidentiality is paramount. The role may also involve collecting patient equipment from soiled utility rooms and delivering patient medication (excluding controlled substances).
