About The Position

Licensed medical professional to work in a fast growing minimally invasive spine surgery clinic. This role involves ensuring all forms and patient information are input into the system, completing FMLA and MRI authorizations in a timely manner, prepping H&P packets, printing and distributing fax folders, filtering tasks, returning patient calls, checking patients in and out, completing brace fittings and education for pre-op patients, educating patients on all procedures, completing necessary follow-up calls, keeping accurate notes regarding education for surgical candidates, performing EKGs, completing vitals, scanning, reviewing the schedule for the following week, assisting within the office and clinic as needed, and traveling to all other locations when needed. The role also requires communication with other team members in clinical and clerical areas to provide a successful patient-centered practice. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • BLS Certificate
  • Current License in the state of Florida
  • 1-2 years of customer service required.
  • Ability to problem solve as well as critical thinking.
  • Proficient in professional and effective communication skills
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Effectively utilize available relevant technical tools and resources (e.g. Microsoft, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of the health care field.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations related to patient information.
  • Knowledge of counseling, conflict resolution, and customer service principles and applications.
  • Knowledge of Insurance and/or experience with verification of insurance eligibility
  • Skill in putting information in preferred medical record system, meeting clinic standards.
  • Skill in diffusing tense situations through diplomatic problem-solving.
  • Skill in using computer and medical records software.
  • Skill in reading and following written and oral medical order.
  • Skill in handling several tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff via phone, in person and through email.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership in resolving patient concerns.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)
  • Experience as an EMT or Medical Assistant (preferred)
  • 1 year of relevant call center or medical experience preferred.
  • 1 year of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all forms and patient information are input into the system.

  • Checking patients out after seeing the provider
  • Complete brace fitting and education for pre op patients
  • Educate patients on all procedures that we perform.
  • Complete necessary follow up calls to patients
  • Keep complete and accurate notes regarding education for surgical candidates.
  • Performing EKGs
  • Completing vitals on patients
  • Scanning
  • Reviewing schedule for the following week
  • Assisting within the office as needed
  • Traveling to all other locations when needed
  • Assisting in clinic as needed
  • Communicates with other team members in clinical and clerical areas to provide a successful patient centered practice.
