PATIENT DINING ASSOCIATE (DIETARY AIDE) (FULL TIME)
About The Position
Morrison Healthcare is hiring a full-time Patient Dining Associate (Dietary Aide) at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital in Katy, Texas. Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility as part of the caregiving team. They help patients make menu selections, assemble and deliver meal trays, and retrieve trays, supporting patient safety and satisfaction by ensuring meals are accurate and served at the right time and temperature. The position has a flexible schedule with varying days and hours, including weekends. The pay range is $15.00 to $16.00 per hour. The role works with patients, nursing staff, caregivers, culinary staff, and dietitians to accommodate nutritional requirements, restrictions, allergies, sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences. Associates follow food safety, sanitation, infection control, confidentiality, and patient-rights requirements, and complete assigned reports and other duties. Requirements
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Previous food service experience required.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
- Basic computer and mathematical skills.
- Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver and push food delivery carts.
Responsibilities
- Help patients understand menu selections and work with nursing staff to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
- Work with caregivers and the culinary team to identify menu alternatives for patients with food allergies or sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences, or requests for additional selections.
- Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to patients’ selections accurately and promptly; retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO standards, and follow facility confidentiality and patient-rights policies under HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food, cleaning workstations, and breaking down the patient tray line.
- Follow facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
- Assist dietitians, including helping monitor patients who cannot eat orally, are on liquid diets, or have specific calorie-count requirements.
- Communicate patient problems or concerns to appropriate personnel promptly and according to department procedures.
- Complete daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies and procedures.
- Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
