About The Position

Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility, helping patients make menu selections and assembling, delivering, and picking up meal trays. They are part of the caregiving team and support patient safety and satisfaction by ensuring meals are accurate and delivered at the right time and temperature. The role includes working with nursing, caregivers, culinary team members, and dietitians to address nutritional requirements, allergies, sensitivities, and patient preferences. Associates follow applicable regulatory, confidentiality, food safety, infection control, and sanitation policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Previous patient services experience.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver and push food delivery carts.

Responsibilities

• Help patients understand menu selections and work with nursing to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
• Work with caregivers and the culinary team to determine menu alternatives for allergies and sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences, or requests for additional selections.
• Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to patient selections accurately and on time; retrieve trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
• Follow federal, state, and JCAHO standards, facility confidentiality requirements, and patient rights policies, including HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food, cleaning work stations, and breaking down the patient tray line.
• Follow facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
• Assist dietitians, including helping monitor patients who cannot eat by mouth, are on liquid diets, or have calorie-count requirements.
• Communicate patient problems or concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner, following department procedures.
• Complete daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies and procedures.
• Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties.
