Patient coordinators perform a variety of tasks in support of physicians and other health professionals. These tasks include but are not limited to: Answering patient calls, taking accurate messages and forwarding to the correct provider for resolution, daily interaction with patients, documenting all patient interactions through the electronic health records system, maintaining provider schedules, promoting a culture of caring through interactions with internal and external customers, responding to patient emails received from the Patient Portal, scheduling a variety of complex procedures both with internal and external care facilities, communicating effectively with insurance companies, verifying coverage as needed, monitoring provider approval queue/inbox, sorting and prioritizing incoming information (faxes, emails, mail, and phone calls), coordinating the transmission and acquisition of patient records between health clinics, monitoring patient medication schedules, lab schedules, and working daily/weekly reports, preparing forms for internal and external clinics, serving as the back-up for several other departments, and any and all other duties as assigned.
